U.S. Egg

What Makes U.S. Egg a Community Builder?

The US Egg has long been one of the favorite breakfast and lunch spots in the area. Mario Gebran is the owner, continuing a family tradition of running a locally owned restaurant. The US Egg story is a classic example of the American Dream. From the time he was 10 years old, Mario, along with his brothers, helped their Lebanese immigrant father, Oscar, build a restaurant from scratch in Tempe. Today, there are six locations across the Valley, each owned by one of the brothers. The hometown location is especially beloved, where Mario often personally welcomes diners at the reception desk. One guest once described it as their own “Cheers,” where everybody knows your name. The restaurant is renowned not only for its delicious breakfasts and lunches—like the protein waffles and the tuna melt sandwich—but also for being a cornerstone of the community. US Egg provides jobs, serves as a venue for everything from simple meals to business meetings to reunions of old friends, and actively participates in food and clothing drives for neighbors in need. During the pandemic, they creatively supported the community by offering not only take-out food but also essential items like toilet paper that were hard to find. US Egg holds a special place in the hearts of many, including those from North Phoenix who eventually persuaded Judy Schwiebert to become a candidate and serve in the Arizona State House. Mario’s role as a community builder in North Phoenix is deeply appreciated—not only for the wonderful food but also for providing a warm and welcoming place for everyone to gather. Mario and US Egg are truly valued members of the community.
