HALO Animal Rescue

What Makes HALO Animal Rescue a Community Builder?

HALO (Helping Animals Live On through increased adoption, sterilization and pet care education) is a private non-profit founded in 1994 by two women, Heather Allen (pictured with Judy Schwiebert) and her mom, Michel Herstam. Located within the LD2 boundaries, HALO is the only facility remaining in the area with on site pet adoptions since the Arizona Humane Society ceased adoptions at their Sunnyslope facility. They provide over 3,000 adoptions per year. Their adoption counselors thrive on helping people find their new best friend, and most pets go home the same day. Pet ownership is very important to many people at all stages of life and giving LD2 a source for adoption in its neighborhood is a blessing.
